Miguel is an Oakland-based video producer, cinematographer, and educator. Prior to joining the Story of Stuff, he worked as an independent documentary filmmaker for over a decade. in 2012, his film “We’re meant to be Reinas” won Best Documentary at the Providencia International Film Festival, and was an official selection at the San Francisco Latino Film Fest. Miguel is a graduate of UC Santa Cruz’s Social Documentation Film Program. His work has appeared in Al Jazeera, Fusion TV, National Geographic, Wired, and the United Nations. His passion to use video as a tool for change brought him back to the classroom, where he taught video production at Oakland International High School and later in Laney College.

His role is to lead our in-house studio creating short, social media-ready videos and documentaries that highlight the challenges with, and solutions to, the ‘take-make-waste’ economy. He is a native from Chile and is a fervent “fútbol” fan.
